first_imgUnder the general supervision of the Associate Dean or Dean, theInstructor is responsible for instructing students in variouscourses in a classroom, laboratory, online, distance learningand/or hybrid setting. Teaching assignments for this positioninclude, but are not limited to, Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, andMicrobiology. The instructor develops course objectives, implementsteaching strategies, advises students, monitors and evaluatesstudent progress and keeps accurate student records.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide Instruction in Assigned Subject AreasProvide instruction to students in the face-to -face classroom,online, hybrid, and/or dual-credit setting according to theobjectives of each course assigned. These courses include, but arenot limited to, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Biology andMicrobiology. The instructor will utilize a variety ofinstructional strategies in the classroom/laboratory/online thatinclude, but are not limited to, lecture, small groups, engagedlearning techniques, demonstrations, and student laboratoryexperiments.Provide For Student Evaluation and Record KeepingPrepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain accuratestudent records on attendance, achievement, and progress.Serves as an Academic Advisor for Students Serve as an AcademicAdvisor to Academic Transfer Program students. Tasks included inthis area are: assist students in selecting and registering forcourses; advise students on their academic progress, courses neededfor graduation, and division/college policies and procedures; andgenerally serve as the first line of communication between studentsand the college staff.Remain Current in Events and Developments Related to SubjectAreas Increase and improve personal teaching and subject knowledgethrough supplemental sources such as in-service activities,conferences, workshops, technical updates, and personalself-study.Participate in Departmental, Division, and College Meetings andCommitteesAttend department, division, and college staff meetings and serveon committees.Develop/Revise Course Curriculum and Educational MaterialDevelop and/or revise course objectives, content, descriptions, andinstructional strategies on approved college curriculum form. Inaddition, the instructor will develop, revise and maintainclassroom/ laboratory policies, grading structures, and strategies.This instructor will review, evaluate and recommend textbooks forcourse use.Function as a Member of the Arts & Sciences DivisionTeamInteract with colleagues, students, staff, and supervisors in amanner which will project a positive image of the program and theCollege and which promotes/facilitates instructional services suchas recruitment, placement, and orientation as assigned.Perform Other Functions Related to Teaching AssignmentsProvide a safe laboratory work environment that includes the properhandling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials. Provideinformation and data that will assist in the preparation of supplyand equipment order, course schedules, book orders, assessment ofstudent learning, and other necessary reports. Prepare laboratorymaterials and set up lab equipment appropriate to areas ofinstruction. Maintain and store equipment when not in use.Individualized Development Plan (New Instructors)Each new instructor will develop an individualized development planin cooperation with the Vice President of Instruction. ProfessionalDevelopment Faculty should work with their immediate supervisor todevelop an annual plan of professional development andimprovement.Promote/Support Diversity Promote and support the College’sdiversity goals; promote/support Access, Fair Employment, EEO,Equity and Diversity programs.Promote/Support the Organizational Environment through Goal 9 ofthe Strategic Plan: Promote and support the College’sorganizational environment goals. Maximize operational efficiencyby enhancing policies and procedures, staffing, and communicationprocesses and practices. Enhance positive communication processesand practices, and maximize a positive and engaging organizationalenvironment by encouraging input, reflective and transparentcommunication, and compassion and respect toward the views andideas of others.last_img
