Porters Lake Provincial Park will reopen for weekend campers on Friday, July 29, not on Friday, July 15 as previously announced. The new opening date will permit newly planted landscaping more time to take root. It will also coincide with the local community’s Lake and Shore Days. The park will open for full-time camping on Aug. 12. It closes on Oct. 10. The park has been undergoing repairs since the devastation of Hurricane Juan in 2003. When it opens it will have larger campsites, increased space between campsites, and improved shoreline access. Visitors will have another opportunity to see first-hand how the restoration process is going on Sunday, July 10, when the park is open for a walkabout from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Park users can make reservations for campsites at the park by calling (902) 827-2250.
