Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s car set on fire in England

first_imgMelissa Rawlins/ESPN Images(NEW YORK) — ESPN reports a car owned by boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was set on fire during his tour of the United Kingdom.The former world champion was speaking at the Birmingham International Convention Centre (ICC), a conference venue in Birmingham, England, discussing Tony Bellew’s upset defeat of David Haye on March 4. Outside, a vehicle with “The Money Team” insignia was aflame.No one was injured according to West Midlands Police, but authorities are “investigating an arson attack on a vehicle parked at a Birmingham hotel” according to the police’s statement.The West Midlands Police added:“Offenders smashed the window of the vehicle, a people carrier, before pouring accelerant inside and setting it alight. Enquiries into the fire, which caused extensive damage to the vehicle belonging to a guest, are currently on-going.”Mayweather Jr. is set to appear in London Monday night. He praised UK fans’ loyalty during his visit in The Telegraph, expressing regret he never fought in Britain during his career.He also addressed rumors he could fight UFC star Conor McGregor, saying if the ultimate fighter wants to, “we can make it happen.”Copyright © 2017, ABC Radio.
