Cricket BY SABRINA GALATAU Twelve teams have qualified for the Pacific International Hospital corporate indoor cricket competition season 8 grand final. The grand final will be held at the Amini Park this weekend. Thirty-three corporate companies fielded 48 teams for both the men’s and mixed divisions. Out of the 48 teams, 12 teams qualified for the grand final. The six teams that made it through the semi-finals in the mixed category are in the Mix Cup match Pacific International Hospital Surgeons V Blooming Ex Travel Services Jets, in the Mix Bowl match, Credit Corporation Finance Ltd Captains V PNG Power Limited Pylons and in the Mix Plate match, Goodman Fielders Ltd V National Parliament Tambarans. The six teams that made it to the semi-final in the men’s category and through to the grand final are National Parliament Tambarans to face Moni Plus Ltd in the Men’s Cup match, National Teachers Insurance Ltd Kumuls to meet Bmobile Ltd Sloggers 123 in the Men’s Bowls and Digicel Ltd Redbacks take on NCDC City Hall in the Men’s Plate showdown. “The current season matches had to be cut short due to the long delay of the global pandemic which has taken up much of the season’s round of matches,” said Port Moresby Cricket Association president Dean Ani. He said the corporate indoor cricket competition is open to staff and their dependents only. The competition is an initiative of the Port Moresby Cricket Association Inc and has been a seasonal competition since 2014 with sponsorship of the Pacific International Hospital.
