Friday night lime to be held every Friday until carnival, a calypso competition, Old Mas and Sensei Festival on February 19 are among others expected to take place in St Joseph for this year’s carnival celebrations. “Over the years St Joe has demonstrated time and time again that the carnival spirit is alive and well right here in this community,” Parliamentary representative of St Joseph Kelver Darroux said.He noted that residents of the community have played an active role in Dominica’s carnival celebrations. Moreover, Darroux warned revelers that there is no place for violence during the carnival celebrations. He said this is important as often times some people tend to associate carnival activities with violence.“I want to tell you that you have to cease from all violent activities for the carnival season, you have to ensure that here in this community of St Joseph you have violent free carnival and it’s not just on the Monday and Tuesday of street jump up,” he said. The grand opening of the St Joseph carnival will take place on February 15, 2014.
